HANDICAP CITY is not a typical narrative, but rather a multi-sensory painting - set in motion by the writings of a man who is trapped in a visceral metaphor for "oppression in society."
The audience is invited on an exploration through the twisted walls that have been built by "DOMINANCE" and "SUBMISSION" - in order to impose a stagnant future on all the broken souls that haunt this place. Drifting through the crippled metropolis, completely devoid of any hope, a message is whispered:
The more complacent the oppressed become, the more permanent becomes the oppression.
With influences ranging from German expressionism to modern Graffiti art, this 35mm film can be as progressive and complex or as classic and simple as the viewer decides to make it.
Handicap City has had an interesting life thus far - gaining cult and fine art credibility all over the world. From midnight screenings all around the U.S. to presentations at fine art festivals and Galleries including; Mama showroom (Art Rotterdam), The Horse Hospital (London), 8mm (Berlin), and many more.
